Like any pet food company, we receive a lot of inquiries about our products. Below, you'll find a list of our most frequently asked questions. If you have a question that isn't listed below, feel free to contact us with your own questions.

Quality and Safety

What testing protocol does Natural Life follow?

All batches of food are tested at set intervals during production for protein, fat, moisture, e-coli, salmonella, and peroxide values.

Does Natural Life test food on animals?

No we do not utilize any testing programs on any animals.

Where do you manufacture your food?

Natural Life is manufactured at plants in Texas, Ohio, Kansas, Arkansas, and South Dakota.

Where do your ingredients come from?

All ingredients are from the United States other than our lamb meal which is sourced from New Zealand. New Zealand lamb proteins are viewed as the high quality supply in the world.

Ingredients and Nutritional Importance

What does "natural" signify for your foods?

Natural in our products means no chemical preservatives and no artificial coloring.

What is your reason for including corn and wheat in some of your formulas?

Not all pets have allergies and do good on regular maintenance diets. We only use whole grains, not by-products or grain fragments.

Are your ingredients GMO free or organic?

We don't make this claim.

Why do your Lamaderm formulas state "preserved with poultry fat" when packaging states "no poultry"?

Only proteins and grains cause allergies, so a dog with allergies to chicken won't be affected by poultry fat. Natural Life feels that poultry fat is the highest quality and most easily broke down by the dogs system.

Formula Recommendations and Feeding Guidelines

Do you have foods for pets with low tolerance for chicken and/or whole grains?

We have our Lamaderm family of products. It is a "true lamb and rice diet".

Is it ok to only feed dry food to my cat?

Yes, our products are complete and balanced. They meet AAFCO standards for a complete diet.

I have recently switched to Adult Lamaderm, how soon should I see signs of improvement or lessening of food allergy symptoms?

You can see results in as few as 2 weeks, but 4-6 weeks is the general rule for our food.

I am following guidelines for feeding your food but my dog is suffering from diarrhea? Any suggestions?

Due to the fact that our foods are highly digestible it might be best to feed less food and monitor your dog's weight. The feeding guidelines are just a suggestion each dog has different activity levels and metabolism just like humans.

Why is my dog still hungry when I am following the guidelines on bags?

Your dog is conditioned that they need to eat large amounts by low quality pet food, the best indicator is your pet's weight and adjust feeding based on weight of the pet.

When should I switch to Adult formulas?

We suggest at about one year old.
